Stormwater Treatment Area 5/6 Driving Bird Tour

Through a partnership with Hendry-Glades Audubon, the South Florida Water Management District will offer to the public escorted birding trips to Stormwater Treatment Area 5 (STA-5/6) located at the south end of Blumberg Road south of Clewiston, Florida.
Trips are limited to 60 participants. Registration required. Participants meet at STA5/6 gate at 8:15 a.m. where they will sign release forms and rearrange in to 4 person carpools. Most participants finish before 1:00PM. The exceptions will be the Christmas Bird Counts with teams meeting at 7:00AM. There will not be escorted trips on December 28, 2019.

Be prepared to go in 4 person carpools during this trip in order to limit the number of cars driving on the STA 5/6 levee. Caravans lead by volunteers will be limited to 8 cars. Bring the completed liability release from, water, snacks, and lunch. Walkie-Talkies are suggested. The closest gas stations are located at Big Cypress Indian Reservation, Clewiston, Montura, or LaBelle. There are dry vault toilets and a shelter at the parking lot.
