Join West Volusia Audubon for a different kind of bird walk. Imagine a stroll in the woods with a friend, enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. We’ll concentrate on enjoying the birds we see, not trying to see them all; the emphasis will be on leisure, low (birding) intensity and camaraderie. This walk at Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge is perfect for beginners and persons with physical limitations.
We’ll start at the Myakka Parking Lot (the first one on the right of Mud Lake Road) at 8:00am, Friday, December 13, 2019, walk through the longleaf pine habitat, then the hammock, and finally the dike around the first impoundment, looking for birds, wildflowers, and wildlife. Walks generally take 1 ½ – 2 hours, and the distance will depend on the groups’ interest. We look forward to seeing you!
