The North Shore Birding Festival, January 21-25, 2021, highlights the Lake Apopka North Shore, an Important Bird Area and top Florida eBird hotspot. With 37 field trips and 3 keynotes, Orange Audubon Society’s 5th annual festival is based out of the McDonald Canal area, 24600 CR 448A, Mount Dora, FL 32757, and trips allow driving into parts of the North Shore otherwise inaccessible except on foot or bicycle. On each of the 4 days of the festival there is a Sunrise Photography and Birding trip, co-led by a skilled nature photographer and birder. There is no festival registration fee, but most trips and keynotes have a charge, which is a donation to support Orange Audubon Society’s nature and environmental center fund. Students can register for trips at half price. See details at https://www.orangeaudubonfl.org/festival/ and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/northshorebirdingfestival.
