At the North Shore Birding Festival, December 3-7, 2020, expert-led field trips explore the St. Johns River Water Management District’s 20,000-acre Lake Apopka North Shore. Trips based out of the McDonald Canal, CR 448A, Mount Dora have driving access into areas otherwise accessible only by bicycle or on foot. This area is now Florida’s top eBird hotspot.
This festival is for all levels of birders and nature photographers and includes a Sunday afternoon beginning birding trip at Wekiwa Springs State Park suitable for children accompanied by an adult.
Trips cost $10 to $70, with no additional festival registration fee. College students register at half price and there are college student travel scholarships. Proceeds go to Orange Audubon Society’s fund to benefit a nature and environmental education center or related educational programs.
