Monarch Butterfly Festival

Wildlife viewers can come watch the migrating monarch butterfly pass through Wakulla County during the month of October, and where better than the wonderful St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, Panhandle Gateway for the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. This annual event has numerous wildlife exhibits and nature-based educational demonstrations. Come see Monarch butterflies being tagged, learn about their incredible migration and enjoy all the beautiful wildflowers lining the refuge road.
