Rodney S. Ketcham Park

Formerly known as Port’s End Park, visit this site on the Port Canaveral’s west side if you’re already in the neighborhood. Brown Pelicans and Double-crested Cormorants loaf on the sea wall, along with Great Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets, Laughing Gulls and Forster’s Terns. Wood Storks and Black Skimmers are sometimes present, along with Loggerhead Shrikes, Ospreys and Anhingas. The park has an observation tower, great for viewing birds and big ships alike. For an added bonus, go under the bridge and continue on Mullet Dr. to the Canaveral Locks area. Shorebirds like Ruddy Turnstones and Spotted Sandpipers forage among the rocks, and the wetland area between the road and the canal can have a diverse array of wading birds and shorebirds such as Roseate Spoonbill, American Avocet and Red Knot. A Common Eider was found at this site in 2010.
