Finding overwintering ducks, loons and grebes is sometimes a matter of luck, but the more spots you check, the more likely you are to succeed! This park on the Indian River Lagoon provides the opportunity to scan for these winter waterbirds, plus Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins. A Long-tailed Duck was spotted from the park in 2014. A paved walkway with benches along the shoreline makes birding and wildlife viewing easy and the picnic pavilion makes for a nice lunch break. Winter gulls like Ring-billed, Herring, and Great Black-backed lounge on the breakwaters and seawalls with resident Laughing Gulls. Ruddy Turnstones can be found feeding among the rocks and on neighboring docks. Wood Storks, Belted Kingfishers and Forster’s Terns are often present; Caspian and Black Tern have been recorded. A boat ramp is available providing access to the river.
